 Sample Data

Psychologists at the Advanced Biofeedback Center follow the "scientist-practitioner" model of psychology. The most important aspect of this model is the systematic collection of data ("scientist"). With these data, the psychologist is in a position to help you --- or help you "help yourself" --- to achieve goal behaviors ("practitioner"). The data also provide encouragement to you because you are able to see progress being made on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis. Below are some samples of data taken from actual patients and used with their permission.

Patient data from nine separate administrations of the TOVA (Test of Variables of Attention, Visual Subtest). Data demonstrates significant reduction in omission errors (missing "targets"), commission errors (hitting non-targets), response time (quicker responding), and variability (consistency in speed of response). Although many factors may have influenced the patient's improvement in attention over the course of a few years, neurofeedback was likely one contributor. In addition to neurofeedback, individual psychotherapy,  family therapy, and educational consultation were provided. Patient was initially seen weekly, then biweekly, and currently on the average of once or twice per month.
